Targeted online advertising you are going to need at least a keyword tool, better is to also have a competitive research tool for keywords. When we do this type of advertising we choose the top buying keywords. What I mean by this is the people that type these keywords in have a higher rate of buying then just browsing or researching. The top buying keywords are not necessarily the ones with the most volume but are usually the ones with the highest bids but not always the highest bids.
There are good keywords out there that companies are just not targeting very much because of lower volume. This is where we can use our competitive research tools to find out from a few companies that are targeting certain lower search keywords that have been running ads for long periods. The competitive research tool can find out these ads that have been running going by length of time. This is going on the assumption that if a company is running ads on a keyword then they must be profitable if they have been doing it for a certain period of time.
This is the case because companies bid up certain keywords that are decent for buyers but they are bidding up these keywords because they have a good volume of searches per month and a lot of companies just don’t have the ability or the time to go through thousands and thousands of keywords. Many companies do not necessarily fool with the smaller volume keywords because there are just so many thousands of keywords, even though there are good ones that they could target. Some niches, many niches, or fields of interest have tens of thousands of keywords, many fields of interest have hundreds of thousands.
When we placement target we take specific sites to advertise on that are from top buying keywords. We advertise on content networks on top sites that come up on a natural or organic search. The content networks are usually far cheaper than being on the search networks, sometimes we can get a larger ad or even a big banner ad and pay the same or less price per click than a small ad on a search result. This all depends on the market and the keyword of course.
If you just run ads on the content network and are just putting keywords into the keyword suggestion box for the ad generator in a lot of cases this is not going to work depending on the niche. You are going to lose money in a lot of cases, the reason is you are not targeting the keywords in the best possible way.
If you do it this way and just put the keywords into the keyword box for the ad to generate it’s going to come up in just a conversation. If the search engine sees a conversation with that keyword, then it is going to bring your ad up and you are going to get clicks just out of curiosity again and not buying intention visitors.
